Telecommunication
This was a school project that I worked on with a group of 5 people and with the help of Nokia engineers. The goal was to design and deploy a telecommunication network from scratch on the island of Saint Martin after a typhoon destroyed its communication infrastructure. We had 4 days to do it.
The challenge lies in balancing the cost, quickness and effectiveness of the network deployment. We also had to establish priorities, such as ensuring communication for airports, capitals, and first-aid workers. Additionally, the topography posed challenges, requiring us to study the terrain, mountains, population density, and distribution.
It was a very interesting project to learn about frequencies, the challenges of a telecommunication network and how it works, the different equipements (eNB, antennas, network core...), the costs... I also learned about various software for simulation and other use cases in relation to this field such as cloudRF.
This also helped me grasp some interesting concepts for cybersecurity when in comes to telecommunication and allowed me to have a solid base to investigate more this field such as SS7 vulnerability.
